Just Us Studio Policies & Expectations

At Just Us Studio, our goal is to provide a safe, positive, disciplined, and inspiring environment where dancers can grow in skill, confidence, creativity, and character. To help maintain a respectful and productive space for all students, families, and staff, the following policies apply to all dancers and studio participants.

1.Studio Culture & Respect Policy

Just Us Studio is committed to creating a welcoming, encouraging, and inclusive environment for every dancer. All students, parents, instructors, and guests are expected to contribute to a positive studio culture.

Expectations:

  • Treat instructors, staff, fellow dancers, and families with kindness and respect at all times.
  • Use appropriate language and maintain respectful communication inside and outside of class.
  • Encourage one another and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Respect personal space, boundaries, and differences in age, ability, background, and experience.
  • Gossip, bullying, harassment, intimidation, exclusion, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

Any behavior that disrupts the learning environment or makes others feel unsafe, disrespected, or unwelcome may result in a parent conference, disciplinary action, suspension from class, or dismissal from the studio.

2. Student Behavior Expectations

All dancers are expected to come to class prepared to learn, participate, and represent Just Us Studio with maturity and accountability.

Students are expected to:

  • Arrive on time and ready for class.
  • Listen when instructors are speaking and follow directions promptly.
  • Participate fully with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Keep hands, feet, and personal belongings to themselves unless instructed otherwise.
  • Remain in assigned class spaces unless given permission to leave.
  • Use studio equipment, props, and materials responsibly.
  • Clean up after themselves and help keep the studio space organized and respectful.

Unacceptable behavior includes:

  • Repeated disruptions during class
  • Talking over instructors or refusing instruction
  • Physical aggression, roughhousing, or unsafe behavior
  • Use of inappropriate language or disrespectful tone
  • Damaging studio property or another dancer’s belongings
  • Filming, posting, or sharing content of others without permission

Just Us Studio reserves the right to remove a student from class if behavior becomes unsafe or repeatedly disruptive.

3. Anti-Bullying & Harassment Policy

Just Us Studio has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, harassment, or behavior intended to embarrass, isolate, threaten, or harm another student.

This includes:

  • Teasing, mocking, name-calling, or targeting another student
  • Excluding or intentionally making others feel unwelcome
  • Gossiping, online bullying, or negative social media behavior connected to studio members
  • Harassment based on race, gender, religion, appearance, ability, identity, or background

Any concerns involving bullying or harassment should be reported to studio leadership immediately so they can be addressed appropriately and confidentially.

4. Safety Policy

Student safety is a top priority at Just Us Studio. Dancers must follow all studio safety rules to help prevent injury and maintain a secure learning environment.

Safety expectations include:

  • No running, pushing, horseplay, or roughhousing in the studio lobby, hallways, or dance rooms.
  • Dancers must wear proper footwear and attire appropriate for their class style.
  • Students should bring a water bottle and notify an instructor if they are injured, unwell, or unable to participate fully.
  • Any existing injuries, medical limitations, or physical concerns should be communicated to the studio before class.
  • Students may only use studio equipment, props, mats, or other materials with instructor permission
  • Parents must ensure young children are picked up promptly and supervised before and after class as needed.

If a student appears too ill or injured to safely participate, the studio may require them to sit out for the day.

5. Drop-Off & Pick-Up Policy

For the safety of all students, families are expected to follow studio drop-off and pick-up procedures.

Please note:

  • Students should arrive no more than 10–15 minutes before class unless otherwise approved.
  • Parents/guardians must pick up dancers promptly at the end of class.
  • Just Us Studio is not responsible for students left unsupervised outside of their scheduled class time unless they are enrolled in a supervised program.
  • Younger dancers should not be dropped off without confirming that their class instructor or studio staff is present.

Repeated late pick-ups may result in additional fees or loss of drop-off privileges if necessary.

6. Attendance & Punctuality Policy

Consistent attendance is important for student growth, class progression, choreography retention, and team accountability.

Attendance expectations:

  • Students should attend class regularly and arrive on time.
  • If a dancer will be absent, families should notify the studio as soon as possible.
  • Excessive absences may affect a student’s ability to keep up with choreography, performance material, or class progression.
  • Students who arrive significantly late may be asked to observe if they miss warm-up or if joining late creates a safety concern.

If a student is enrolled in a performance team, competition group, or intensive program, additional attendance expectations may apply.

7. Dress Code Policy

Students should arrive dressed appropriately for movement and prepared for the style of class they are taking.

General dress expectations:

  • Wear comfortable dancewear or athletic clothing that allows for safe movement.
  • Hair should be secured away from the face when possible.
  • Appropriate dance shoes or clean indoor sneakers should be worn when required for class.
  • Clothing with offensive language, graphics, or inappropriate imagery is not permitted.

Specific dress requirements may vary by class style, instructor, performance group, or special training program.

8. Food, Drink & Studio Cleanliness Policy

To help maintain a clean and professional studio environment:

  • Water is allowed in class unless otherwise directed.
  • Food, gum, and messy snacks are not permitted in dance rooms unless approved for a special event or long rehearsal day.
  • Students are expected to throw away trash, clean up personal items, and respect shared spaces.
  • Please help keep bathrooms, lobby areas, and studio rooms clean and presentable.

Any damage to the studio caused by negligence or intentional misconduct may be the responsibility of the family.

9. Parent & Family Conduct Policy

We value strong relationships with our studio families and ask that all parents and guardians help support a respectful, positive studio environment.

Parents/guardians are expected to:

  • Communicate respectfully with instructors, staff, and other families
  • Avoid disruptive behavior during class times, rehearsals, or performances
  • Support studio policies and reinforce respectful behavior with their dancer
  • Address concerns privately and directly with studio leadership rather than through gossip or public criticism

Aggressive, threatening, or disrespectful behavior toward staff, instructors, students, or other families may result in removal from studio programs.

10. Tuition, Payments & Refund Policy

Tuition reserves a student’s place in class and is due according to the payment schedule established at enrollment.

Payment policies:

  • Tuition must be paid on time in order for a student to participate in classes.
  • Monthly tuition is non-refundable unless otherwise approved by studio management.
  • Missed classes do not automatically result in refunds or credits.
  • Returned payments, unpaid balances, or repeated late payments may result in late fees, temporary suspension from class, or cancellation of enrollment
  • Vendor-funded and homeschool program tuition must follow both vendor requirements and Just Us Studio policies.

Any payment arrangements must be approved in advance by studio leadership.

11. Make-Up Class Policy

If a student misses a class, a make-up class may be offered based on availability and studio approval.

Please note:

  • Make-up classes are not guaranteed.
  • Make-up classes must be scheduled within an approved timeframe.
  • No refunds are provided for missed classes unless otherwise stated in writing.

12. Photography, Video & Social Media Policy

Just Us Studio may occasionally photograph or record classes, performances, rehearsals, or studio events for promotional, educational, or archival purposes.

By participating in studio activities:

  • Families acknowledge that photos or videos may be used on the studio’s website, social media, flyers, or promotional materials unless a written opt-out is submitted.
  • Students and families may not record other dancers, instructors, or classes without permission.
  • Any content shared online involving studio students or staff should be respectful and appropriate.

13. Injury, Illness & Medical Disclosure Policy

To protect the health and safety of all students:

  • Students who are sick, contagious, or experiencing symptoms that could affect others should remain home.
  • Families should inform the studio of any injuries, medical conditions, allergies, or accommodations that may affect participation.
  • Participation while injured is at the discretion of the family, student, and instructor, but the studio reserves the right to limit participation if safety is a concern.

In case of emergency, studio staff will contact the parent/guardian and seek appropriate assistance as needed.

14. Class Placement & Advancement Policy

Class placement is determined by Just Us Studio based on age, experience, maturity, technical ability, and overall readiness.

Placement decisions are made in the best interest of the student and the class as a whole. A student may be moved to a different class level if the studio determines another placement would better support their growth, safety, or success.

15. Performance, Team & Rehearsal Expectations

Students participating in performances, showcases, competitions, intensives, or team programs may be held to additional standards regarding attendance, rehearsal participation, costume deadlines, communication, and professionalism.

Failure to meet those expectations may affect casting, performance eligibility, or participation in future opportunities.

16. Right to Refuse Service / Dismissal Policy

Just Us Studio reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student or family whose behavior, communication, or conduct repeatedly violates studio policies or negatively affects the safety, culture, or operation of the studio.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Repeated disrespect toward staff or students
  • Ongoing disruptive behavior
  • Unsafe conduct
  • Harassment, bullying, or threatening communication
  • Failure to comply with studio policies or payment expectations

Whenever possible, concerns will be addressed through communication first. However, the studio reserves the right to act immediately if a situation compromises safety or well-being.

17. Policy Acknowledgment

Enrollment in Just Us Studio indicates that the student and parent/guardian understand and agree to follow all studio policies, expectations, and procedures. These policies are in place to protect the safety, growth, and experience of every dancer in our community.
